National, Statewide and Regional Wage and Employment NumbersJob Browser Pro includes
national, statewide, MSA (Metropolitan/Micropolitan Statistical Area) and now
NON-MSA (i.e. Rural) Regions, mean and median wage information and employment
numbers by OES groups. Additionally, when appropriate and available,
Earnings text from the Occupational Outlook Handbook is
interwoven. Among these three sources of wage data, SkillTRAN recommends use of the OES data, as it is based on survey responses by employers rather than household survey. Estimate DOT Employment Numbers SkillTRAN has introduced a revolutionary, new, industry-changing, continuously peer-reviewed methodology to estimate DOT employment numbers using standard government OES data (long term projections, occupational density (staffing patterns) by NAICS industry, and current OES employment numbers. SkillTRAN's suggestions of appropriate industries for each DOT occupation is subject to continuous peer review. Long Term National Job Outlook JOB BROWSER Pro includes long term national employment projections prepared by the U.S. Department of Labor and reported by Occupational Employment Survey (OES) group. The new statistics use the SOC 2000 coding system for OES groups. Current employment level (base year) and projected employment over 10 years are made by new NAICS industry (National Industry Classification System - replacement for the old SIC system) for each OES occupation and by NAICS industry. The projections are revised every other year and are updated as part of an optional maintenance program. An intervening year can be chosen and all of the projected are re-calculated automatically. An Occupational Density Factor is now calculated on the NAICS industry projections. It is used to fine tune the estimate of local employment numbers by NAICS industry. Additionally, when appropriate and available, the Outlook text from the Occupational Outlook Handbook is interwoven into the Long Term Outlook section. |
