About
To preserve your software investment, SkillTRAN monitors changes in the various occupational coding systems used in its products. These changes are incorporated into periodic maintenance releases. Version 1.6 introduces a new methodology for estimating DOT employment numbers using current government data resources. Customers can make changes to the SkillTRAN-suggested industries for each DOT occupation to customize and fine tune the accuracy of these suggestions. These customer changes can be shared with SkillTRAN in a new method of continuous peer review, which builds upon the collective wisdom of the vocational professional community.

National wage information is published annually. Long term growth projections are published bi-annually. The Occupational Outlook Handbook is also released bi-annually. Other federal occupational classification systems are in a frequent state of transition and modification.

Version 1.6 (released June, 2008) includes:
  • 2007 National CENSUS-based Mean and Median wages and employment for Men only, Women only, or both combined
  • 2007 National, Statewide, Metropolitan/Micropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and 175 new NON-MSA Regions for OES-based wage and employment numbers
  • 2006—>2016 National OES Occupational Growth Projections by the NAICS industry codes (replacement for the SIC)
  • 2008—>2009 Occupational Outlook Handbook and web link references to and newer
  • OOH sections integrated to each Job Specialty
  • Top Jobs based on OES projections with drill-down to DOT Job Specialty occupations, including wage data
  • O*NET Code and title for each DOT occupation
  • Display of Industry, Strength, SVP, GED and O*NET on list of matching titles
  • Re-sort list of matching titles by a click of the column heading
  • Ability to print the list of titles selected from a search

The simple and affordable $ 149 (USD) cost of the optional Internet Update Service annual version update is about 27% of the regular $ 549 retail price of the Job Browser Pro product. SkillTRAN highly recommends the Internet Service to keep data, programs, and help files up-to-date. It also enables SkillTRAN to back up your custom changes, archive them in the event that you have a computer hardware problem or change computers, and study your changes in the context of continuous peer review of SkillTRAN industry suggestions. The collective wisdom of the vocational professional community will be periodically shared back to your computer as well.

Internet Update Service

The optional Internet Update Service keeps your data set current. When Job Browser Pro is started up and there is an internet connection, Job Browser Pro checks to see if more recent data or program files are available. If so, you can choose to update your data if you have a valid subscription. You do NOT have to have an internet connection to actually use Job Browser Pro.
